BIEA Graduate Conference 2022
The BIEA invites you to an open discussion of past, present and future aspects of political competition and democratic elections in Africa. The competitiveness and credibility of elections in Africa can often lead down the path of electoral violence, contested electoral outcomes, an extension of presidential term limits and clamp down on dissent. Contrarily, competitive politics and successful elections have resulted from innovative reforms, practices and preventive measures adhered to by political actors. Therefore, understanding the role of state, public and private institutions, and civil society organizations in contributing to free, fair and transparent elections in Africa is critical.
