Refugee protest and creative resistance
Join us in-person or online for an afternoon exploring the themes of refugee agency, protest, and creativity, marking the launch of several recent publications on refugee-led advocacy and resistance.
Poet Peter Kidi will read several of his poems from The Forgotten Faces, offering insight into the lived experiences behind his words. Director of the BIEA, Dr. Rachel Ibreck, and RLRH Research Officer Mohamed Hassan will reflect on their recent publications addressing displacement, resistance and accountability in contexts of displacement and migration. All are welcome to this thought-provoking dialogue on how creative expression and protest intersect in the lives of refugees and those who stand in solidarity with them.
Programme:
- Readings by Peter Kidi
- Reflections by Dr Rachel Ibreck and Mohamed Hassan, including discussion of their recent publications in The Journal of Refugee Studies and Disasters.
- Followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A.
- Light refreshments will be provided.
