Governance of Public Institutions: Transcending Organisational Boundaries
Governance of public institutions remains a global public concern which is more intense within the African continent. In most jurisdictions, planning is done at individual organizational level, while the development challenges being addressed cut across sectors and jurisdictions. Addressing this, requires committed leaders and governance mechanisms that bring stakeholders from across sectors and jurisdictions on table. While this seems a straightforward task, it remains a major deficit in most countries. Consequently, the Public lecture will interrogate the challenge, by reflecting on the concepts of governance and multi-level governance and assessing the application of these conceptual lenses in contemporary Africa.
