WELCOME TO THE BIEA HUB, NAIROBI

The British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA) is excited to host members of SAfA from the East African region who may be unable to attend the 26th Biennial Meeting of SAfA in person at Rice University, Texas.

The BIEA has been actively conducting and supporting archaeological and other research in the Humanities & Social Sciences since 1960. Its research hub in Nairobi includes events facilities, research spaces, equipment and technical expertise, and a well-stocked reference library and archive.

From our 70-seater seminar room, the BIEA will provide a video link for SAfA participants to remotely connect with the events at the SAFA meeting, and have the opportunity to network with colleagues from around the region.

Due to a 9-hour time difference the BIEA is unable to host the entire event. The programme available at the Nairobi hub is as follows:

The BIEA can provide information on local hotels and can assist with hotel bookings.

No funding is available to support travel to the BIEA or accommodation, although SAfA and the BIEA will provide catering during the event.

There is no registration fee to join the events at BIEA. However, participants must register attendance for each day in advance. The link for registration is:
