– Speaker: Graham Amakanji, Ph.D
An acclaimed researcher, lecturer, and a peace consultant, Dr Graham Amakanji Oluteyo is based in the Department of International Relations at Kenya Methodist University and the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies in MMUST as a Research Fellow. He has gained global repute including prestigious awards from the Next Generation Social Sciences in Adrica Program, securing both the 2021/2022 Doctoral Dissertaion Fellowship till completion. An alumnus of the Rotary Peace Centre at Makerere University, Dr Amakanji is a visionary in Decolonialty and Afrocentic transdisciplinary studies. He is an honored Visiting Fellow of International Relations at MGIMO-University under the Russian’s Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Currently, he is heading a transformative capacity-building program targeting NGAO’s in Kenya to establish a dual role in calibrating and preventing violent-extremism affecting Kenya’s security. His dynamic research portfolio ranges from land use and natural resource conflicts, governance development studies, homegrown extremism and terrorism, extending to diplomacy and international relations where he develops unique Afrocentic views to global discourse. He supports community empowerment and institutions through evidence-based research, policy advocacy and strategic capacity-building programs. His efforts enable him to forming the future of peace, security and international resources in Africa and beyond.
