The British Institute in Eastern Africa holds unique research collections. These are primarily available at our Nairobi research centre, though an increasing number are accessible online.
BIEA’s digital archives include images from a series of archaeological projects led by former director Neville Chittick between 1961 and 1983, while related materials – such as field notes, maps and sketches – are held in the institute’s physical archives in Nairobi.

There are many reasons to become a member of the BIEA and join our research community. The BIEA membership is open to all researchers and early career researchers.
