The BIRI are a network of independent academic centres connecting knowledge, cultures and people through research in the arts, humanities, archaeology and social sciences.

By bridging past and present, places and perspectives, the BIRI strengthen understanding between regions, disciplines and communities. They support researchers at all stages of their careers through grants and opportunities, and online and in-person events in the UK and overseas.

The BIRI network includes the British School at Rome, the British School at Athens, the British Institute at Ankara, the British Institute of Persian Studies, the Council for British Research in the Levant, the British Institute for the Study of Iraq, the Egypt Exploration Society, the British Institute for Libyan and North African Studies and the British Institute in Eastern Africa.
